I think that the reason why people don't like your idea is because it would just become another grind-based/money-sink title, and Guild Wars already has enough of those.
If you look at Guild Wars, the programmers are now starting to implement titles just to justify certain game "features". For instance, fireworks were pretty much worthless for most people. After a while, people didn't really care about them. Then ANet invents the Party Animal title, and now people are buying these previously-trashed items for tons of gold. In other words, I'm getting the impression that GW is now using titles to drive the behavior of gamers and create excitement where there previously wasn't any.
